Despite a bullish prediction in May, Bitcoin has been underperforming gold in 2026, with recent headlines showing gold holding up better as BTC tests long-term support and both assets falling together on rate-hike bets.
What's driving it
- • Gold has been outperforming Bitcoin recently, as noted in a June 18 FXEmpire article stating 'Gold Outperforms as BTC Tests Long-Term Support'.
- • Both assets fell together in early June on rate-hike expectations, per CoinDesk (Jun 9), which hurt Bitcoin's relative performance.
- • A May 26 CoinDesk analysis highlighted that 'Bitcoin's run against gold is breaking', signaling a shift in momentum.
- • The 25% Yes odds reflect lingering belief in a May 2 AMBCrypto prediction that Bitcoin could outperform gold by 42% in 2026, but recent data has not supported that.
The case for YES
- • The May 2 AMBCrypto prediction of Bitcoin outperforming gold by 42% in 2026 suggests a strong potential rebound if macroeconomic conditions shift favorably for crypto.
- • A May 23 CoinDesk analysis argued that BTC is set to outperform after a difficult stretch, implying a possible reversal in the second half of the year.
- • If rate-hike fears ease or Bitcoin-specific catalysts (e.g., institutional adoption) emerge, the remaining months could see BTC catch up and surpass gold's gains.
The case for NO
- • Recent headlines consistently show gold outperforming Bitcoin, with BTC testing long-term support (FXEmpire, Jun 18) and both assets falling together (CoinDesk, Jun 9), indicating gold's relative strength.
- • The May 26 CoinDesk analysis explicitly states Bitcoin's run against gold is breaking, suggesting a sustained trend favoring gold.
- • With only six months left in 2026, Bitcoin would need a dramatic outperformance to overcome the current gap, which seems unlikely given the recent bearish momentum.
What to watch
- • Upcoming Federal Reserve interest rate decisions in late 2026 could shift the odds: a rate cut would likely boost Bitcoin (Yes) as risk assets rally, while a hike would favor gold (No).
- • Bitcoin's next halving-related price movements or major institutional adoption announcements (e.g., ETF inflows) could drive a Yes move if they occur before year-end.
- • Geopolitical or inflation surprises that increase safe-haven demand would likely push odds toward No, as gold typically benefits more in such scenarios.

Which price will Bitcoin hit in 2026?
The field is overwhelmingly concentrated on Bitcoin reaching $65k and $75k in 2026, both at 99%, reflecting the current price near $64k and a strong bullish consensus. The single biggest recent shift is the surge in odds for $65k to near certainty as Bitcoin approached that level, confirmed by the July 20 headline 'Bitcoin price hits $65K wall'.

Which price will Bitcoin hit in July?
The market is effectively settled: with Bitcoin trading above $65,000 as of July 26 and only five days left in July, the 98% odds for $65,000 reflect a near-certain outcome rather than a speculative bet, leaving no room for the other two price levels.

Which price will Solana hit in July?
The $70 target leads at 30%, but the field is far from decided; the single largest recent shift appears to be the mixed impact of a record stablecoin market cap and a $1.65M exploit on the same day (July 20), which may have widened the probability spread.

Will Bitcoin to cross $100,000 USD again in 2026?
Despite bullish predictions for a September turnaround, Bitcoin's price languishes near $63k, far from $100k, and a death cross in March has dampened hopes for a 2026 recovery. The market assigns only a 25% chance, reflecting skepticism that any near-term catalyst can fuel a 58% rally.

What will be the price of Bitcoin at the end of 2026?
The field is heavily concentrated in the $60k–$90k range (81% combined), with the leading $60k–$75k bracket at 53% — a bet that Bitcoin's bear market bottoms and recovers modestly by year-end, but does not break out above $105k (only 6%). The biggest recent shift is the 53% leader absorbing share from the $75k–$90k and below-$60k bins, likely driven by the July 18 report of massive call spreads targeting $72,000 around the Fed meeting (CoinDesk, Jul 18) and the July 24 analysis suggesting the bear market may end before the four-year cycle predicts (Bitcoin Foundation, Jul 24).
