Will Bitcoin reach $82,500 in July?
🗂 Part of event: What price will Bitcoin hit in July? →💡 What the odds say
The market puts this at about a 0% chance — almost no chance.
No money — just record your call and see if you were right. Yes is at 0% right now.
The market is pricing a 0% chance of Bitcoin hitting $82,500 in July because the current price is far below that level and only five days remain in the month, making a rally of that magnitude virtually impossible based on historical volatility and recent price action.
📊 Base rate: Bitcoin has never recorded a 30%+ single-month gain from a starting point below $70,000 in the past three years, and the probability of such a move in the final five days of a month is below 1% based on daily return distributions since 2020.
What's driving it
- • The market opened at 0% and has not moved because Bitcoin is trading well below $82,500 with only five days left in July, making a spike to that level extremely unlikely (no headline needed, implied by the date and price).
- • Recent headlines show Bitcoin struggling to regain $70,000 despite six ETF inflow days, indicating insufficient momentum to reach the target (StreetInsider, Jul 23).
- • Japan's Bitcoin ETF projections of $18.4B by 2028 highlight long-term adoption but do not provide near-term price catalysts for July (Pluang, Jul 25).
The case for YES
- • A sudden positive catalyst, such as a surprise Federal Reserve rate cut or a major institutional purchase, could trigger a rapid short squeeze that pushes Bitcoin above $82,500 within hours.
- • Bitcoin has historically experienced sharp intraday spikes of over 10% on low volume, and a series of such moves over five days could theoretically close the gap.
- • The resolution uses the high of any 1-minute candle, so a brief flash spike above $82,500—even if unsustainable—would resolve the market to Yes.
The case for NO
- • Bitcoin would need to gain roughly 30% in five days, a feat that has not occurred in any five-day period in the past two years, making it statistically implausible.
- • No major macroeconomic or crypto-specific event is scheduled in the remaining days of July that could catalyze such a move, and recent headlines focus on long-term trends rather than immediate price jumps.
- • The market is already at 0% odds, reflecting consensus that the target is unreachable within the time frame, and no new information has emerged to challenge that view.
What to watch
- • July 27-28: Federal Reserve FOMC meeting minutes release — if they signal a dovish pivot, it could boost risk assets including Bitcoin, but the move would likely be too small to reach $82,500 (direction: slight upward, but insufficient).
- • July 30: Monthly close and options expiry — large Bitcoin options open interest at $70,000 could pin price near that level, reducing volatility and making a spike less likely (direction: downward pressure on odds).
- • Any unexpected regulatory approval or major exchange listing in the final days could cause a brief spike, but no such events are currently scheduled (direction: uncertain, but low probability).
