🗂 Part of event: Tour De France 2026: Top 3 →💡 What the odds say
The market puts this at about a 0% chance — almost no chance.
No money — just record your call and see if you were right. Yes is at 0% right now.
Huub Artz's odds have slipped 2 points amid a riding-position controversy and a jury removal from the lead group, but the race is still in its second week and his top-3 chances hinge on whether he can overcome the time loss and avoid further penalties.
📊 Base rate: In the last 20 Tour de France editions, only about 5% of riders outside the top 10 of the pre-race favorites have finished in the top 3, making the current 47% odds appear high relative to that historical baseline.
What's driving it
- • A 2026-07-12 incident where Huub Artz was removed from the lead group by the race jury (MSN, Jul 12) directly hurt his position and likely contributed to the 2-point drop in odds.
- • A subsequent controversy over his riding position (MSN, Jul 14) and a related arm-position rule debate (MSN, Jul 19) have kept scrutiny on Artz, potentially affecting his performance and team strategy.
- • The stage 16 time trial on 2026-07-20 (IDLprocycling.com, Jul 20) is a critical test for Artz's time-trialing ability against rivals like Evenepoel, which could further shift his top-3 prospects.
The case for YES
- • Artz has shown he can stay with the lead group when not penalized, as evidenced by his presence there before the jury removal (MSN, Jul 12), suggesting he has the climbing legs to contend for a podium spot.
- • The riding-position controversy (MSN, Jul 14) may be resolved in his favor or lead to a rule clarification that allows him to race without further disruption, restoring his momentum.
- • With the race still in its second week and key mountain stages ahead, Artz could regain time if he avoids further penalties and benefits from team tactics or rivals' misfortunes.
The case for NO
- • The jury removal from the lead group (MSN, Jul 12) has already cost Artz significant time, and making up a deficit to top GC contenders like Pogačar (who attacked on the Tourmalet, MSN, Jul 12) is extremely difficult in a modern Tour.
- • The ongoing arm-position controversy (MSN, Jul 19) risks further penalties or distractions, which could derail his race entirely or lead to a disqualification.
- • Historical base rates suggest that riders outside the top pre-race favorites rarely finish top 3, and Artz's recent setbacks make it even less likely he can overcome the odds.
What to watch
- • Stage 16 time trial on 2026-07-20: A strong performance could boost Artz's odds (Yes direction), while a poor showing would likely drop them (No direction).
- • Upcoming mountain stages in the final week (after Jul 20): If Artz attacks or gains time on rivals, odds could rise (Yes direction); if he loses further ground, odds fall (No direction).
- • Any official UCI ruling on the arm-position rule (expected soon): A favorable ruling could reduce uncertainty and lift odds (Yes direction), while a ban or penalty would hurt them (No direction).

Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed cyclist finishes in the top 3 of the 2026 Tour De France scheduled for July 4, 2026 through July 26, 2026. If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed cyclist to finish in the top 3 of the 2026 Tour De France per the rules of the UCI, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If the 2026 Tour De France is cancelled, postponed after August 9, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there are otherwise no declared top 3 finishers declared within that timeframe, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source will be official information from UCI; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
