🗂 Part of event: Tour De France 2026: Top 3 →💡 What the odds say
The market puts this at about a 26% chance — unlikely.
No money — just record your call and see if you were right. Yes is at 26% right now.
Warren Barguil's 47% chance to finish top-3 in the 2026 Tour de France reflects a market that sees him as a plausible but far-from-dominant contender, with odds slipping 3 points in the past week as the race enters its decisive final week and his team's overall struggles become more apparent.
📊 Base rate: In the last 20 editions of the Tour de France, only about 10% of riders who were not pre-race favorites or previous podium finishers have cracked the top 3, making the current 47% odds quite high relative to that historical baseline.
What's driving it
- • The 7-day decline of 3 points likely stems from Week 2 race reports (Team Picnic PostNL, Jul 15) showing Barguil's performance relative to the top contenders, as the race enters its decisive mountain stages.
- • Team Picnic PostNL's 2026 season has been described as 'difficult' (CyclingUpToDate.com, Jun 29), and their Tour lineup announcement noted partner updates but no standout form from Barguil, weighing on confidence.
- • A SportsDesk report (Jul 13) quoting that 'only superstars win Tour de France stages' reinforces the narrative that Barguil faces an uphill battle against the race's elite GC riders.
The case for YES
- • Barguil has a history of strong grand tour performances, including a top-10 overall finish in the 2017 Tour de France, and could benefit from a breakaway or attrition among favorites in the final week.
- • Team Picnic PostNL's dedicated Tour de France line-up (Jun 29) suggests the team is prioritizing his GC ambitions, potentially providing strong support in the mountains.
- • The market still assigns a near-even chance, indicating that many bettors see a realistic path if Barguil maintains consistency through the final stages.
The case for NO
- • The 3-point drop in the past week aligns with Week 2 race reports (Jul 15) that likely show Barguil losing time to the top GC contenders, making a top-3 finish increasingly improbable.
- • The 'difficult 2026 season' for Team Picnic PostNL (CyclingUpToDate.com, Jun 29) and the absence of any standout stage win or podium mention for Barguil suggest he lacks the form to compete with the race's elite.
- • Historical base rates strongly favor pre-race favorites and established podium finishers, and Barguil has not been in that category since his 2017 breakthrough.
What to watch
- • 2026-07-26: Final stage of the Tour de France on the Champs-Élysées — if Barguil is within striking distance of the podium after the Alps, odds could spike; if he's far back, they'll collapse to near zero.
- • 2026-07-21 to 07-25: Remaining mountain stages in the Pyrenees and Alps — any stage where Barguil gains time on a top-3 rival would push odds up; losing time would push them down.
- • 2026-07-20: Rest day and potential news on injuries or team tactics — positive updates on Barguil's condition could boost odds, while reports of illness or team discord would lower them.

Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed cyclist finishes in the top 3 of the 2026 Tour De France scheduled for July 4, 2026 through July 26, 2026. If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed cyclist to finish in the top 3 of the 2026 Tour De France per the rules of the UCI, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If the 2026 Tour De France is cancelled, postponed after August 9, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there are otherwise no declared top 3 finishers declared within that timeframe, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source will be official information from UCI; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
