🗂 Part of event: Which countries will Donald Trump visit in 2026? →💡 What the odds say
The market puts this at about a 10% chance — very unlikely.
No money — just record your call and see if you were right. Yes is at 10% right now.
Odds remain low at 10% despite a slight uptick; recent headlines about North Korea's deepening military involvement in Ukraine reinforce the view that a Trump visit is unlikely amid heightened tensions and no diplomatic overtures.
📊 Base rate: Only one sitting U.S. president (Trump himself) has ever set foot in North Korea, and that was a brief, scripted DMZ crossing in 2019.
What's driving it
- • North Korea's reported plan to send 30,000 troops to aid Russia in Ukraine (Reuters, Jul 25) underscores the country's hostile posture, reducing the likelihood of a friendly visit.
- • A Wall Street Journal report on Kim Jong Un upgrading his spy network (WSJ, Jul 25) suggests continued adversarial intelligence activities, making a visit diplomatically risky.
- • Internal economic strain and corruption in North Korea (DailyNK, Jul 25) may make a high-profile visit less appealing or more difficult to coordinate.
The case for YES
- • Trump has a personal history with Kim and visited North Korea in 2019, so he might attempt a follow-up for legacy reasons.
- • A surprise diplomatic breakthrough (e.g., denuclearization talks) could create an opportunity for a summit in North Korea.
- • Trump's unpredictable foreign policy style makes any visit possible regardless of tensions.
The case for NO
- • The current geopolitical environment, with North Korea actively supporting Russia against Ukraine (multiple sources), makes a presidential visit politically untenable.
- • No diplomatic rapprochement or negotiations are underway; past visits required prior groundwork.
- • Trump's own administration likely sees no benefit; internal opposition could block a visit.
What to watch
- • Upcoming UN General Assembly in September 2026 could provide a venue for talks that might lead to a visit (positive if talks happen).
- • Annual joint US-South Korea military exercises in August could escalate tensions (negative).
- • Any official statement from Trump or Kim about a possible meeting would move odds significantly (positive direction).

How it resolves
Settled on-chain by UMA's optimistic oracle: once an outcome is clear, anyone can propose the result, which then enters a challenge window where it can be disputed with evidence before it finalizes.
⚖️ A proposed outcome can be disputed during a challenge window before it's final.
Resolution criteria
If U.S. President Donald Trump visits a listed country between January 1 and December 31, 2026 11:59 PM ET, the relevant market will resolve to "Yes". Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purpose of this market, a "visit" is defined as Trump physically entering the terrestrial or maritime territory of the listed country. Whether or not Trump enters the country's airspace during the timeframe of this market will have no bearing on a positive resolution. The primary resolution source for this information will be official information from government of the United States of America, official information from Trump or released by his verified social media accounts (e.g. https://twitter.com/POTUS), however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

The field is virtually nonexistent: only two candidates register at 1% each, and no one has broken 5%, making this the most open Democratic nomination race in modern history. The single biggest recent shift is the DNC's decision to put South Carolina first in the 2028 primary calendar (Axios, Jul 25), which could reshape candidate strategies and favor a different type of contender.

The field is highly concentrated, with Andy Burnham absorbing nearly all of the probability after Starmer’s resignation and a key endorsement, pushing the top three candidates' combined odds to an unsustainable 110% that signals liquidity imbalances or heavy speculative positioning. The biggest recent shift is Burnham’s surge to 99% following the ‘Starmer Announces Resignation; Burnham Wins Key Endorsement’ headline (The New York Times, Jun 23).

Despite Newsom's commanding lead, the field is far from settled: the 20% 'Other' share and AOC/Ossoff's recent gains per Action Network (Jul 8) suggest a pool of anti-Newsom sentiment waiting for a viable alternative.
