Will Bitcoin reach $65,000 in July?
🗂 Part of event: What price will Bitcoin hit in July? →Bitcoin's odds of touching $65,000 in July surged 31 points in 24 hours, driven by institutional accumulation and a potential regulatory breakthrough, though the price still needs to overcome nearby resistance.
What's driving it
- • Senate Crypto Bill Negotiations reaching critical stage (Bitcoin Foundation, Jul 17) signals potential regulatory clarity, boosting sentiment.
- • Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) purchased 3,273 BTC for $255M (CoinMarketCap, Jul 17), reinforcing institutional demand.
- • PlanB's prediction of Bitcoin reaching $500K to $1M (Intellectia AI, Jul 16) may have contributed to bullish narrative, though it's a long-term forecast.
The case for YES
- • Bitcoin is already trading near $65,000, and a single 1-minute candle spike above that level is a low bar that can occur even on a brief surge.
- • Institutional buying from Strategy and positive regulatory signals provide upward momentum that could push price over the threshold.
- • The market's 81% probability reflects strong conviction that the level will be touched, given the short remaining time and recent price action.
The case for NO
- • Bitcoin faces resistance near $65,000, and the 'escape routes begin at $72K' headline suggests selling pressure could cap gains.
- • Some companies are divesting Bitcoin holdings, as seen in the London firm voting to sell its entire BTC stack (CryptoSlate, Jul 16), which could offset buying.
- • If Bitcoin fails to break through quickly, the remaining days in July may not be enough to overcome resistance, especially if momentum fades.
What to watch
- • July 17-18: Conclusion of Senate crypto bill negotiations; a favorable outcome would likely push odds higher, while failure could reduce them.
- • July 31: Market resolution deadline; as the date approaches without a touch, odds will decline sharply.
- • Potential large Bitcoin purchases or sales by major holders (e.g., Strategy) could move the price quickly.
